GI Appt
Well today was our much anticipated appointment with the infamous pediatric gastroenterologists at Brenner Children's Hospital. After going over a lot of history he said we could do two final tests on Bailey to rule out any other possible problems. If those tests are clear then all her issues are behavioral.

Test One - 24hour PH Probe to check to see how bad her reflux really is. Considering the specialists we have met so far all seem to be in disagreement with each other, it would be nice to know whether or not she really needs to be medicated. Especially since she refuses them all anyway. It would make my job much easier, she would happier, and we would save at least $20 a month. She would need to spend 24 hours in the hospital while the probe is in place and they will need to bandage her hands to keep her from pulling it out. HAHA, they don't really know how strong willed Bailey is yet.

Next - Follow up appointment with the GI doctor about the test results

Test Two - Endoscopy/Biopsy to see if she is having any allergic reactions to the new foods she is being exposed to. They will scope her to check for any inflammation or swelling of the esophagus and do a biopsy. While the UGI showed no major swelling of the esophagus, he said it isn't always conclusive and there could have been some minor swelling not picked up on that test.

If those tests are clear, her issues are behavioral and that falls under the care of Dr. Christiannse with the Kids Eat feeding cllinic and the SLP's with the pediatric therapy program. While at times, I can understand how this could be behavioral, something makes me wonder that there could be something else wrong. She tries so hard to eat, wants to eat the food, eats a few bites and then is done or starts the gagging/vomiting. How can a baby at 2 months old have behavioral issues with taking medications? It just doesn't make any sense and it feels like something is wrong, something is overlooked or there is a missing piece to this puzzle. I hope we figure it out!

She still isn't taking her bottles well at all but I have worked really hard today and have gotten 20 ounces in her so far. Hopefully we will have 2 more feedings left tonight to work on that some more.
