Oh no A Cold
Right after my last post, Bailey started coming down with a cold, Bradley got sick, Hamster had to be put to sleep, Maria swallowed 4 feet of string and just about killed herself (thank goodness for 9 lives!) and left a huge mess all over the house, and then Steve gets sick and Patrick gets sick. Whew, what a week! I know it could be worse, but I would never want to see that.
Bailey started refusing bottles, got really congested, and was pretty fussy for a few days. The congestion was the worst of it for her. Thank goodness she is on the Nutren Jr. formula with the extra calories in it because she sure needed it with as little as she was drinking. She did have some spitting up/vomiting Tuesday night with the cold but has been fine again the past few days. She still isn't eating at all. It seems like she has lost almost all interest in food. She does get really hungry at times and tries to eat regular food but after a couple of bites, she is done. I have even tried chocolate and ice cream and get the same response. It seems as if she doesn't enjoy the food and eating it makes her uncomfortable. I talked with Shawna, her therapist, about it and while most toddlers go through a picky stage, Bailey doesn't eat enough to support that theory. She thinks it may be making her uncomfortable also. She used to eat or try a variety of foods but now she will play with some food but isn't interested at all in eating any of it. We are going to switch her therapy sessions to a Monday or Wednesday afternoon to see if that sparks more interest in eating from her.
What's new this past week? She is trying to mimic more sounds that we make. Most times it doesn't come out any different from her regular babble but she does try. She does enjoy talking a lot more than Bradley did at this stage. She is still learning to walk backwards, and manuever down the stairs. The whole nesting thing and in and out is still her preferred play. She loves to go through bags and buckets and dump, play and fill.
