Vacation, Birthday, Check up
Well, everything happened within a week of each other so I have some catching up to do.
Bailey did well on our trip. We spent a day at Universal/Islands of Adventure. I brought a bottle with cereal in it figuring we could buy some milk while there if absolutely necessary but Bailey handled it just fine. She was certainly filled up on soda's though! Whatever, at least it held her over for about 8 hours. She had a fantastic time. Our first ride was the Petree at Islands of Adventure and since she had to be strapped in by strangers in front of me, well, she wouldn't have any of that. So I let her out while I rode it with another passenger. :) She did much better after that though. I think that a poor decision on our part to attempt such a big girl ride for her first ride (even Patrick was sweating this one). The boys rode a couple of short line rides and then we went through the Dr. Suess section which all of the kids enjoyed immensely. Perhaps Patrick enjoyed it the most. It really helped break the ice so that Bailey would enjoy more rides to come. We then stopped for Pizza between the two parks and Bailey did great with hers, especially considering her teething issues. At Universal she rode the Twister, Jaws, and then spent the rest of the day in the Kiddie section doing the water stuff, roller coaster (twice), waterslide (twice), and just playing around in general. Jaws was by far our most favorite followed by Twister and Men in Black. Those definitely made the long lines worthwhile. By the end of the day, we were tired of theme parks! Thank goodness we weren't there for a week.
Saturday, we boarded the cruise ship and lunch was already being served. Bailey enjoyed a plate of jello (much to my surprise because usually she hates the stuff) and some ice cream (one of her favorites). Then we let the kids play at the water park until our room opened up. We spent the rest of the day trying to figure out the ship and itenerary. Sunday was another day at sea. Monday, we happily jump off the boat for a few hours at Cozumel. We skipped the bottle this time but Bailey didn't eat either. She hung in there until we returned to the ship. She enjoyed a day hanging out on the beach (not much water for her due to the rough surf) and riding in the convertible punch bugs. We found her a pair of authentic maracas and she was thrilled. That made her whole day. While on our excursion, we were out too long and almost missed our boat. We returned after our deadline to some very long lines. Thankfully most of the others were also passengers for our boat so at least we were in good company. The boat left 30 minutes behind schedule though. Bailey caught up on her bottles, ice cream and pizza promptly upon return. The next day we spent at Grand Cayman on a reef snorkeling excursion. Poor Bailey was not able to get in the water and she was a bit upset but a bottle and chocolate quickly lifted her spirits. We only had 4 hours on this island and only 30 minutes to shop so it was a quick trip. The next day was Wednesday and her birthday. We let her wake up and immediately open her presents. We chose two small gifts, one Dora game and one Diego game. We spent the rest of the day at the water area and let her take a quick dip in the pools. That night we took her to the fancy dining room for a small birthday celebration. The waiters took very good care of her, gave her a piece of cake with a lit candle, sand Happy Birthday to her, and she got to open another present. She enjoyed her usual cheese pizza meal and I also ordered her a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Bradley went to go entertain the guests with the wait staff with a little song and dance routine. It was very cute. We then took her to the final show in the lounge and she konked out shortly after it started.
Monday was her doctor's appt. It was our most terrible appointment yet. She refused to get weighed, refused to get her height checked, refused to let them see her eyes open, and resisted just about everything else with all her might. We guessed her weight at 33 pounds and they guessed her height at 38 inches but I think that might have been an inch or two off. Regardless she was 75% for both and I was told to not worry one bit about her weight. Her developmental ped must just prefer to see skinny babies. Anyway, we talked briefly about her issues and I guess I will find out more next month at her next evaluation. Her speech and communication are behind as are her feeding skills also. I hope all is okay though. I'm certainly done with worrying about it. Worrying gets me nowhere.
