Ma, uhm ooh bear ha ah

October 26, 2007

Now that was a 6 word sentence. She is talking really good! If only she was more legible. She comes and asks me, "Ma, take pooh bear hat off?" I know she said this because I understand her language very well. But some words are very tricky. For example, for the /P/ she no longer does the consonant substition, now she just leaves the sound off completely. For the final consonant, typically she leaves that sound off, which is age appropriate. And the real kicker is this, she still uses the sames sound to mean multiple words. So the 'ah' sound could be on or off, or even up or a couple other words. She subs the 'uhm' sound for most verbs that she cannot even imagine trying to work out. Her personal words are numerous. Her real words are much less than that, maybe 30 now. So she may continue to lag behind her peers in speech, however I do see improvements.

She is recognizing more letters. She knows that O and Q are O. I haven't told her that Q is really Q yet but I probably should to see if she can pick up on it. I don't remember the boys picking up on letters this early. Patrick was 3 when he started and Bradley never did until we forced it on him. Bradley knew his sight words though, very well. I'm really surprised that she is picking up on letters already, she seems so young. Maybe I will get to enjoy her being my little bookworm?
