It's Labor Day! I rescheduled Bailey's speech therapy for tomorrow instead of today. She is talking quite a bit now. She will come up to us and say a whole sentence. We have no idea what she is saying but still, it is cute. She has some new words: meno is now help instead of menoma, booday is for birthday, oh gosh there were others but I cannot remember them right now. It's all the same thing though, jargon more than anything else. I usually know what she is talking about so that helps.
The major milestone we have accomplished the past week is that she is holding her own bottle now. I can lay her down on the sofa and put it in her mouth and she will finish it. It's sooo nice! I can run around and get stuff done. She won't put it in her mouth yet but we will get there. Next step is to move to the sippy cup. I need to introduce that concept while we are out traveling and she is really hungry. I might be able to talk her into it!
The bump on her head looks so much better now. It's a nice yellow/brown color and not nearly as noticable anymore.
The next thing I want to work on is introducing more milk and less formula to her. I wonder if this will help boost her appetite for real food. I'm going to try it anyway! I think she is big enough and has plenty of stores built up. And I will be using 1% milk because I still think the formula is much too fattening. The bottle I gave her this morning had 2 ounces milk and 3 ounces of formula and she drank 4 ounces. I am hoping this will help slim her down some. She hasn't done much eating lately and nothing really new. She played with a corn on the cob, tried some orange, grapes, apple. She is tired of trying the banana and peach thing.
One last thought...while at the dentist Tuesday I confirmed something that had been floating around in my noggin for a while now. I really think she shares many similar genes with Bradley. They look so much alike, they both have the extra gum tissue between the 2 front teeth, they both had/have reflux, oral aversions, speech delays, and so on. There are just so many similarities with them. They connect more with each other than the rest of us. It will be interesting to see how they develop over the next several years.
