Fired the therapist
It isn't exactly new news since I forgot to update about it but still, it is important to note. I think I do as well as our last feeding therapist. She hasn't helped in the past 2 months so I really don't see any need in continuing services. Bailey has made some progress but not due to her, it was all my doing. So out the door she goes! We are keeping Alicia for speech issues for a while longer. She works very well with Bailey and Bailey really enjoys her visits.
Bailey continues to work on her ABCs and 123s and her colors. We picked up a baby bottle for her cabbage patch doll with the disappearing milk and she loves to feed her baby now, showing some imaginary play at last. She keeps taking her doll's clothes off though. I don't know what that is all about but she doesn't like clothes on her dolls, even poor Dora. She is picking up new words (especially with the counting) and starting to pick up the last consonant sound in a word, whereas before she was consistently dropping it off. She still has an extensive vocabularly of her own that we need to work on molding into ours but we still have plenty of time.
I can tell she is one that likes to do her own thing regardless of anyone else. If we are outside playing, she can often be found exploring on her own around in the yard. The boys would always play on the trampoline, swingset, or ride their bikes. Bailey prefers to explore at her own pace and abosrb everything there is around her. She isn't as active as the boys and doesn't contantly bounce off the walls all day. And she absolutely loves to shop. We had to make a couple stops yesterday and I chose to not bring along a cart (too many germs) and she was into everything she could find at her level. There was a Hello Kitty display at AC Moore and she played and explored there for about 30 minutes. When it was time to go I asked her to tell her ($30) Hello Kitty Doll bye bye. She did just that without a fuss. When we stumbled across a $10 HK doll at TRU, I had to buy it for her. She is so good when we are out shopping. I am so proud of her.

I had to laugh at this one! And I want to let you know that I have been reading your posts! (I am in the works of FINALLY creating blogs for my kids too - I'll let you know how that progresses)
Anyway, you're better than me! I'd fire them before they start. haha. Kaden doesn't need anyone and yet they still tend to want to push therapy (physical), etc. on him - so he is little and behind - he's going to be - that is how they are!! Why put them and myself through the frustration of having someone else work with them.
Anyway, I believe YOU know best and you've been through it before. There are only so many tricks of the trade therapists can try and most YOU already know and you will figure out on your own which may or may not work anyway.
YOU also taught and helped me more than any therapist ever did - I wish all the insurance claims, etc. could of went to YOU instead!! HA.
Keep up the great work - It sounds like she is continuing to improve and like my kids - it may take longer and be frustrating (to say the LEAST!) but, they look happy and healthy and the rest will develop when they are ready.
:) Jennifer
