Reality Bites

Reality Bites!
The ladies from the Infants and Toddlers, Early Intervention, Child Development Services, or whatever you call them were out here today to evaluate Bailey and see if she would qualify for extra services through their program. We talked a while, they watched her and played with her and asked tons of questions about her. In the end she tested at a 6 month old level (I'm really blushing now) with her feeding skills so she qualified with flying colors. Yikes, I know she has had a lot of regression but it really seems bad when someone else puts it that way. They said she had spacers (I think that was their term) in her speech development and she would also need speech therapy later just like her brothers. Right now she isn't too far behind but she isn't developing quite as she should. She has many of her own words that I considered regular words but they did not include those.

They will be back out here again next Monday to go over her IFSA or whatever that thing is called. Looking back over the last 3 months, she has only had 2 therapy sessions (I think that is right) covered by insurance so at least this will help when insurance has gaps in coverage. They mentioned getting her in speech and OT.

Sha has finally stopped vomiting for now (knock on wood, I don't want to jinx things again) but her appetite has been very low with some days struggling to get 8 ounces of formula in her. I have been very worried about dehydration but we always seem to get at least 3 wet diapers a day. Despite the lack of appetite, she still looks very healthy. It is a struggle to get any meds in her. She does seem to do much better when I can get a good dose of Axid in her but if I try to sneak even just 1ml in her 4 ounce bottle, she can sense it and refuses the feeding.

Edited to add: She just spit up another bottle. Darn!
